Mon-Oct 12-Chapter 2 test
Tues-Oct-13- Chapter 4 Ancient China. Bellwork-Everyone turn to page 98, look at the pictures for lessons 1, 2, 3, write down one thought for each picture. Collect bellwork after discussing the student’s thoughts about the pictures. Read together pages 99-101.
Students write their vocabulary words (yellow highlighted words) and definitions in notebooks or in their computers.
Hand out Lesson 1 worksheet The Geography of China, tell students the homework is due Friday October 16
Objectives: Exploring China reveals diversity in the land, water, and ways of life.
Wed-Oct-14-Bellwork; What crops were grown on the terraces? Answer on page 101. Discuss answer, collect bellwork. Read together pages 102-103. At the end of the class remind students they need their computers for class tomorrow.
Thurs-Oct 15-Bellwork: Have students find pictures on their computers of the limestone that has eroded into different shapes in China. Have students research whether or not China mines the limestone. Allow 15 minutes for bellwork today. Review with students the Lesson 1 Check Facts and Main ideas found on page 103. Please discuss all 5 questions.
Fri-Oct-16-Bellwork- The Huang River gets its name from what color? How does the Huang River turn this color? Objective: Students will interpret climographs for a year of weather in Beijing and Hong Kong. Read pages 104-105.
Mon-Oct-19-Bellwork-Use your imagination and write what artifacts may tell us about the people that lived long ago in China? Lesson 2 China’s Past, Read pages 106-107.
Objective: Describe some of the major achievements of the Han dynasty.
Tues-Oct-20-Bellwork-Ancient Chinese people wrote in pictographs on what items? Read pages 108. Objective: Discover the importance of silk during the Zhou dynasty.
Wed-Oct-21-Bellwork-Use your computers to find out why dragons are so important in the Chinese culture. Read pages 109-110
